NEWS produced at EB5AGV's Shack (from 1996 to 1999)
13-Sep-1999 - Today, a very special guest has been at my new QTH and in my under-construction shack.
Yves Pautard WN4I has been so kind to visit me during his european trip. Here you have a picture of him
working on my Collins KWM-2A. Thanks Yves for your visit!
April - August 1999 - Long time without news!. Well, not really. I have been working hard to get
my new family QTH ready. Of course, it includes a new (and bigger 8-) ) shack. I will post some pictures as
soon as I have it ready.
3-Mar-1999 - Another big packet has crossed the Atlantic Ocean (thanks, Herb!). Among lots of other goodies, there is a Drake TR-22C 2m transceiver, an RCA O-180A/ARC-21 oscillator assembly (anybody has another component of the ARC-21 set?), another Shure 444 (I really love them!) and a military (it seems made by Western Electric) I-106A VHF field meter (companion of the ARC-5 VHF sets).
16-Feb-1999 - One of the finest transmitters ever made has found its way to my shack. It is a Central Electronics CE-100V. It uses 'only' 26 tubes, including the highly linear 6550 final tubes. It can work in SSB, AM, CW, FSK, ...
30-Jan-1999 - After a long sea travel the long awaited Heathkit HW-101 transceiver is here. The trip has been a bit moved, as there is some damage in the (fortunately) back panel.
24-Jan-1999 - My first Kenwood transceiver has just arrived. It is a TS-520S hybrid (solid-state except for the tubed power amplifier) transceiver. I have got some accessories with it, as a DG-5 external digital display, a VFO-520S remote VFO, a TV-502 2 meter transverter and a MC-35S hand-held microphone. The rig is in very goos shape and a careful cleaning will leave it as new.
5-Jan-1999 - Another BA in the shack!. This time it is a National HRO-500, a heavy solid-state receiver. It is the bridge between tubes and solid-state technologies.
30-Dec-1998 - Today we have received a very nice visit: Engbert Oord and his wife. We have enjoyed a nice time with them. Engbert has been so kind to find, buy and carry from England an 'small portable receiver' :-), an RCA AR-88D. I will add a page devoted to it soon. First impression is that it is a very nice receiver (I am just listening to it). Thanks Engbert!.
14-Dec-1998 - Merry Christmas ! from all the EB5AGV / EC5AAU Radio Station crew (i.e. my wife, my daughters and I :-) ). Here you have an small Christmas present for you...
18-Nov-1998 - A new Boatanchor has just arrived. It is a Lorentz 6P203 german receiver. By the way, I'm in need of the schematics and/or manual for it. Please, let me know if you have it. I hope to put an special section for this receiver in short time. Stay tuned!.
19-Aug-1998 - Two big packets (about 40 lbs each), full of BA materials :-) have just
arrived (thanks, Herb!). Some of the contents included a Drake R-4B
receiver, a Daiwa CNA-1001A automatic antenna tuner (has anybody a manual around?),
an I-129-B absortion frequency meter set (nice one!), a TEK 935A oscilloscope, a big
lot of tubes (thanks, Dan!) and lots more of useful junk (err, equipment).
15-Jul-1998 - A non working HP-8601A sweep generator has just arrived to the shack. I hope to be able to repair it, as I want to use it to align IFs and band-pass filters on my boatanchors.
2-Jul-1998 - Today, one of the first tubed rigs I wanted to own has arrived: it is a nice Collins KWM-2A.
15-May-1998 - New gear received: military T-784A transmitter (thanks Joel!),
Heathkit C-3 capacitor checker, Heathkit IT-3120 transistor checker, Bird 74 coaxial
switch (thanks Herb!) and lots of smaller parts.
17-Apr-1998 - More items received. Among them, a radiation survey meter (curious item
from the Cold War times).
2-Apr-1998 - Another packet received from USA: Heathkit GD-125 Q-multiplier (any manual around?),
Drake R-4C and some more items.
22-Mar-1998 - 'Las Fallas' festival has just ended here in Valencia :-(... But here I have a present for you :-). My three daughters dressing typical costumes of Valencia. Aren't they pretty ;-) ?.
12-Mar-1998 - At long last!. The Racal RA-17L I had been waiting for has finally arrived!... Read all about it, along with lots of pictures, at the NEW RACAL page.
17-Feb-1998 - More test equipment!. An HP-200CD is there. This unit is a military one, with a blue painted case. One nice thing is that it has a calibration tag dated January 1995, with next revision due January 1997... Nice test equipment!.
12-Feb-1998 - Drake TR-4C with AC-4/MS-4 in nice condition just received. It has non-standard sweep tubes: three 'converted' 6JM6 tubes.
4-Feb-1998 - A Drake T-4XB arrives to the shack.
16-Jan-1998 - British receivers arrived!. A nice Eddystone 1004 and a Racal RA-329B (RA-217D receiver and MA-323 FSK unit combination) have just got into the shack. Both are solid state rigs, but the Racal is a 85lbs 'BA in weight' :-).
12-Jan-1998 - New BA test equipment: an ME-26D/U military RF VTVM has arrived today. First checks are extremely positive: it works accurately on OHMS and VDC. On VAC it works, but I have not checked its accuracy. Some trivia: the last calibration tag is from 24 May 1989. And a label hanging from the case says 'calibrate before use'. So I suspect VAC accuracy won't be at its best!.
8-Jan-1998 - A nice BC-453B military LF receiver has just arrived!. This is my second Command Set receiver... and hope not the last one :-)!.
7-Nov-1997 - More equipment arrives!. The Drake T-4XC (R-4C companion) has arrived today. Look the C-line at Gear Collection page.
3-Nov-1997 - New equipment in the shack!. A Drake R-4C has just arrived. Take a look to the NEWDrake C-line page.
24-Aug-1997 - My daughter Sara is very worried about his father's working at his new tower :-). In the picture, I'm working at 6 meter height; the tower will be 14 meters tall, plus rotor support and mast... More will come in next months!.
8-Aug-1997 - New equipment added to the shack: TV7-C/U tube tester, ARC-5/R-28 VHF receiver, RME-152A VHF converter.
24-Jul-1997 - My third daughter (Sara) was born at 00:10AM local time. Here you have a picture of her, when she was only 1 day old:
And here you have a picture of Sara with her sisters, Maria (left) and Laura (right):
5-Jun-1997 - The R-388 (51J-3) with mechanical filter kit is here!. More information about this unit at the NEW R-388(A) page.
25-May-1997 - More BA coming!. An R-388 (51J-3) with mechanical filter kit is almost ready to ship from USA... I hope to have it here in about two weeks. It would be a nice addition to my station :-)!.
18-Mar-1997 - My station received two very special visitors from USA, Herbert Rosenthal (W5AN) and his wife, Susan. Here you have an scanned picture of them enjoying 'Las Fallas' festival, here in Valencia.
3-Mar-1997 - I've received a new receiver, a Hammarlund SP-600-JX, with the 'hard to find' SPC-10 SSB converter. I'm currently restoring and aligning it. I'll add a picture and some information about it in short time. Stay tuned!.
30-Jan-1997 - I've added the Buying and Selling section. It is intended to exchange radio and test equipment and, of course, TUBES!.
5-Sep-1996 - This summer I've been collecting TUBE GEAR. Some of the news 'toys' will be:
Hallicrafters SX-43 + R-44 speaker

23-Dec-1996 - More BA coming!. They are an EAC R-390A and an RCA AR-88. I will display them as soon as they arrive here and I have time to take a picture and scan it. Look at the collection page for more information.
13-Nov-1996 - As you can see, I've got at last my Collins S-line and now it is my main phone HF station!. Look a picture of the S-line in my station page. Some of the other tube gear is here also, but these equipment is in a Radio Museum I'm helping to set up. I'll add special pictures and information as soon as possible.
